Challenge #103 - Colors of Halloween

Using Pattie's image Spooky Scarecrow I created a card using Halloween colors of orange, black and purple even though the shabby coat looks more blue than purple ... LOL.  I used Copic markers for coloring the pumpkins, fence, coat and grass.  The black bird colored with Bic Mark It Up markers.  The Halloween scalloped circle tag was print and cut out from the SilhouetteAmerica online store and foam tape applied to underside.  Then matted and placed on Kraft card stock base.

Thank you for coming by to visit with me; and since today's Halloween, happy spook day to all.

Heidi with Apple

Good morning from Carolyn --- I am here with my project for this Saturday morning, using Heidi eating her caramel covered apple.

Heidi with Apple

I used the banner title 'Give Thanks' from Angela Creaion's scrap kit: Thanksgiving Fun Scrap Kit; and paper background from Give Thanks Scrap Kit.  Right now I'm not able to locate where I downloaded the Fall tree and fence with rake and pumpkins.

Using Abode Photoshop Elements 12 I created a scenic front to the card, placing Heidi eating her Apple in front on foam tape.  This was layered onto brown Kraft cardstock than onto brown.

Thank you for stopping to visit with me today, and hope you have a happy crafting weekend.

A Friday Favorite - Scrapbooking

Hi, Carolyn here with what I am calling Digital/Easy Pocket Scrapbooking Part 1; but this is a version of pocket scrap booking, done digitally...

This past June, as a final day of enjoying El Paso, Texas we went to the El Paso Zoo for a few hours and enjoyed the fun time, but not the heat.  I was sooo hot, it was unbearable but here is three layouts using clear plastic pockets from Pixel Scrapper Digital Scrapbooking and MyMemoriesSuite, or if you like the traditional way of scrapbooking, the plastic sleeves are available (I purchased mine thru HSN.com).

The giraffe in third layout is a clipart located in a Internet search and Fun Day at the Zoo and Zoo Fun titles from misskatecuttables.com  as svg cut files.  (you group together and than print and cut in your Silhouette Cameo to create a sticker and apply it on the layout.

Thank you for visiting with me today, and happy crafting.  You will find more inspirational ideas at Scrapbook Blessings Club.

School House Mini-album

Our challenge theme is Anything Goes and I decided to use the free file from The Creative Pointe that can be found her

School House

For the Anything Goes challenge for October 20th, I used the School House free cutfile found here and created a School-House mini-album.  I cut the school house out on poster board for front and back cover and a couple inside pages to strengthen the album.

On the front cover I placed photos of granddaughter's first day of school for 2014-15 in ruler frames, and placed where the windows would be in the file.  Apple with First of Day school sentiment and a notebook, and yellow ruller as border for embellishments
.

Next two photos show what the pages will hopefully look like when I complete them...

I will be adding photos hopefully on each page as the 2nd one shows here.  Located a volleyball  and net clipart with a google search, print and cut with the Silhouette Cameo; and the journal card downloaded from Katie Pertiet where she is offering 50 Journal cards free.
Here is the back cover:

The mini-album will be bound with a ring on the corner of the school house.  Paper from a personal stash of paper pads I have.

Halloween Card Topper

Mid October already - time is flying by too fast.  I am sharing this card with you all today.... for A Girl Who Crafts...

Supplies used:
Using Adobe Photoshop Elements I created the background, using a mask found at Pixel Scrapper Digital Scrapbooking. I printed and cut out with my Silhouette Studio DE software.  I colored Bella with markers and adhere with foam tape to the side of  card, applying leaves at her feet.  Happy Halloween stamped, using the Teeny Tiny Words stamp set from Stampin! Up.

Thank you for stopping to visit with me and happy crafting to all.

Challenge #32 Shaker Card

First here is the video tutorial by Prairie Paper & Ink (AmyR) of a Shaker Card

And here is my Shaker Card....

This is the top/front of the Shaker Card, using a cut file from my Silhouette Studio DE Library I cut out the scalloped-window frame, and nine pieces of poster board pieces for the inside of the frame plus a clear plastic in the shape of the scalloped frame.  I print and cut the sentiment square piece and applied to the back of the framed poster board pieces.

The sequins found in the jewelry crafting department at local Wal-mart which was put inside of window.  All this I used Score-tape for adhering to each other plus to the card base.  Since I felt it was looking blah, I punched a scalloped edge, trimmed to correct size, and applied a ribbon for border and used two gemstones/beads for the corner.

This is the inside of the card, which as you can see is a birthday card for my soon-to-be 14 year old granddaughter.  I've been working on her 12x12 scrapbook and found the baby picture of her about 11 months old in my stash of photos and decided to create a mini-layout with baby picture and present day of 14 year old.  I created this mini-layout using my Adobe Photoshop Elements, printed out on photo paper and cut out with my Silhouette Cameo.  Layered it on her favorite colored mats and this is her birthday card, on it's way to Texas.

Thank you for stopping to visit with me, and take a moment and head over to Scrapbook Blessings Club for more inspiration, joining in the challenge(s) and apply for a position on the DT call.  Happy crafting to all

Homemade Saturday at Scrapbook Blessings Club

Hi Carolyn here with a Christmas candle I created a year or so ago using a Ho Ho Ho file with Santa.

TIP:  take your time with the heat gun on this project - don't want to melt the wax candle too much. And makes a neat little decoration at Christmas time or for a gift.

A couple years ago, really can't remember when I created this for a design team project but I had viewed a youtube video on creating a candle with tissue paper.  I used white tissue and printed Santa and title and than got out the heat gun and applied the tissue paper to a white candle that I purchased at Wal-mart.  And wrapped a ribbon around the bottom of candle, and placed on a little clear plate for display at Christmas time.

Thank you for visiting with me today, and happy crafting to you all.

  • Placed glue in the white snowy areas and sprinkled Martha Stewart fine glitter to give it look of icy patches on tree limb
  • First mat and the the scalloped circle embossed with Snowflake and polka-dot embossing folders
  • Stitched around the red card stock; and placed two gems on corner of green; plus stamped a snowflake in corner and placed a gem in center.
  • Bird wings was colored with Wink of Stella Brown glitter brush pen (I love the brushes). Rest of the coloring was done with Bic Mark-It and Copic markers

Halloween Door Hanger

For the next challenge at Creative Cutting  Challenge our theme is Halloween.  Using the Haunted House file from The Creative Pointe I created a door hanger for front door (and may make one for the patio/garage door using my new Cricut Explore)

This is on display on our front door, in time for the little Trick or Treaters to come by for their treats.  Created the sign using SCAL2 and cut out on my Silhouette Cameo.  Placed the yellow moon and haunted house onto poster board that was covered with a black background.  "Enter and if you" was cut out in orange smooth construction paper and "Dare" was out of design paper from my stash.  The bats was cut out in black and if I had to do it over (plan to cut out using my new Cricut Explore this week) I would have created the bats a tad-bit smaller to show the shadow background.  The Crow/Raven I found on the MTC Library and cut out in black and added a small silver gem for its' eye.  Placed two eyes on the black bats using my white gel pen.

Thank you for stopping by to visit with me, and head on over to Creative Cutting  Challenge and join in with us in the Halloween challenge.  Happy crafting to all.

Challenge #31 - Upright Diamond Fold Card

Happy October folks, lovely temperatures finally arriving in Alabama!!  This Northern (Indiana) gal loves Fall and cool temps ....

This card fold technique was/is a new one for me and really now quite sure if I would have used it, but always nice to try new card folds.  Here is my card and the image used is from Kenny K's Designs.

Front of card.

Full view of open card.

For the image I used girls hair and outfit,  I use my PrismaColour markers; the pond and trees was colored with Copic  markers, with a silver metallic pen for the edges.  I used a snow flake background scene with the bridge added using my Adobe Photoshop Elements 12.

I cut out the scalloped circle 3 x's  on poster board to create a chipboard sticker.  Then punched the image using my circle punch.  Design paper from 7 Gypsies Collection from the Journeys - "Santa's Journeys" for layering - the distressed polka dot and red with stripes.  Inside the diamond shape I used light tan card stock from my stash of card stock and stamped snowflakes randomly and placed clear gem stones in centers of some of the snowflakes.

The 'Joy' and Happy Holidays banner from Studio G - 7 Cardstock stickers received from a former friend.  Placed small gemstones on corners of card - both inside and outside, plus on the layer (placed incorrectly and didn't notice until after I view the photo in my photo editing program...LOL)

Here is the instructions Splitcoaststampers

Scroll down to bottom of tutorial and a video will be there to click on to view.

Thank you for stopping by to visit with me and have a Happy Crafting week to all.

Scarecrow watching over the Pumpkins

Good morning crafters, Carolyn here to share another Fall/Halloween card, using the Scarecrow Digital Stamp Image

Layered design paper  and cardstock onto a Kraft cardstock and than using the  Scarecrow Digital Stamp Image which I colored with (I believe) Bic Mark-It markers on the design paper (sorry no Fall type paper in collection) and print and cut the fence with pumpkins using the Print n Cut feature in Silhouette Studio DE, after playing around with the pieces to create the image.  The crow is from the library in Make the Cut software which I had cut out several of this little fellows.  Placed a gemstone for an eye.  On the fence/gate where there was circles to indicate it nailed together, I punched holes with my hole punch, and placed bronze colored brads.  The three pumpkins at bottom, I may have cut this out with my new Cricut Explore Print then Cut feature and place two of three on foam tape.  As for a sentiment, I will place that once I know who will be receiving this card.

Thank you for stopping to visit with me and head on over to Sunsational Stamps blog for more inspiration from the Design Team.

Print and Cut comparisons

I felt motivated yesterday to compare the print and cut features of the three machines I own and here is the results:

First is the Silhouette Cameo which is my trusty machine with all cuts...

You will note the tiny white edgings which I don't like (I like all cut outs to be perfect!! but I use because of ease and time factor - the machine is set up and already in the software.)

Here is the results of the Brother's Scan 'N Cut...

Brother's Scan 'N Cut needs calibration!!  There is white edges on the pieces -- this machine should be cutting more perfectly than it is.  I have calibration instructions but too nervous to attempt it - not as easy to calibrate as the Cricut Explore even though I calibrated the Explore 4 x's!!

Results of Cricut Explore:

Near perfect!!  There is some teeny-tiny white edges but don't know if that is the photo taking results (in all three pictures) or what.  But my choice for print n cut (or as in Cricut Explore Print then Cut) I will be using the Cricut Explore for perfect cut images.

(and in all fairness, the lighting and angle of camera was not great - some of the white edges are results of the angle or lighting because when I look at the actual pieces the white edges are not that great as shown in the photos.  So it will be a matter of what project I am working on and the time of the posting to my blog.)

Thank you for stopping by to visit with me, and have a happy crafty weekend.

Challenge #101 Embossing (any type)

October already - a month I love because of the beautiful colors and hopefully  (in Alabama), much cooler weather.  I chose this file Snow Birds Birdhouse to create this card:

I embossed the mat with a snowflake embossing folder and the layered sentiment circle with polka dot embossing folder.  The design paper and cardstock leftovers from my personal stash of paper.  I used Bic Mark-It markers for coloring the trees; and copic markers for the birdhouse and blending marker to create a weathered look.  Birds wings was colored in using a new Wink of Stella glitter pen/brush - Brown that I just recently received in a card kit.  Took the plunge and placed Martha Stewart glitter on the trees to create snow (should've used my Stickles here instead).  I printed the image out on white cardstock, and than used a die-cut to cut and than ran thru the machine to emboss the edges.  After I all put together, decided to add stitching to the red layer, and two gem stones on the green layer, and still looked bare so I created a bow and placed under the tree limb.  The snowflake was stamped in and a clear gemstone placed in the center.

Thank you for stopping by to visit with me, and when you have a moment head over to Pattie's Creations Design Challenges and check out the challenge rules and play along with us.  Happy Crafting to all.
