Hummingbird visiting the feeder....

I love watching hummingbirds coming to the feeders.  At home, we have the little one with a red breast, but this one looks to be the female visiting the feeder at my son and daughter-in-law's bird feeder in their backyard.

Challenge #93 - Birthday Card

Good morning from DT, Carolyn with a Birthday card I created for Pattie's Creations Challenges and here is my little card ...using Pattie's image  "Hootie"

I viewed a video on GinaK Designs of how to sponge color a background and decided to try this even though I am not that good (and they used a acrylic stamp for their image whereas I print and cut "Hootie" with my Silhouette Studio DE software (upgraded version).

Supplies used:
  • Distressed ink used for sponging in colors on label
  • Label from Annabelles Garden Basket CU/PU
  • 8.5 x 4.25 base
  • Matting cut to size
  • 4 gemstones in each corners
  • Sentiment from http://drsdesigns.com/ using foam tape to adhere to card front.
Thank you for stopping to visit with me and please head over to Pattie's Creation Challenge for more inspiration.  Happy crafting to all....

Father's Day Challenge

Today is our challenge to create a Father's Day card/project and using Creative Pointe's file Car Set I created three cards to send out or hand deliver as the case may be as I am flying to Texas to visit with my son and family.

Using 3 of her designs, I copied and welded the car to create the base for the card.  Than cut the individual pieces out and adhered to the base.

Supplies used:
  • Silver Liquid Pearls for each of the cards as embellishing means
  • Punched out yellow circles for the headlights
  • Big and small brads as center of tires in first two cards.
  • Print and cut sentiment for first 2 cards; and 3rd card stamped, using Teeny Tiny Words from Stampin! UP and the word punch was used, first for the sentiment, and than 2 more times to layered and placed on front.
  • Metallic paint medium smudged on areas of car to show rust! (Hint: I had a boo-boo up by the right headlight and took the photo into Abode Photoshop Elements ver. 12 and edited the boo-boo out by using the 'bandaide' technique and paintbrush with eye dropper and painted over the corrected spot).
  • Red gemstones used for the two small areas
  • And there is three black button beads on the 2nd car for embellishments.
Now to create envelopes for the cards as, at least, the first card is way too big for a business envelope.  Thank you for stopping by to visit with me today, and don't forget to check out the challenge at Creative Cutting Challenge .  Happy crafting to all....xoxo

Learning how to use Abode Photoshop Elements ver 12

Mountains seen from across the street of a convenience store here in El Paso, Texas.  (A clue -- I was playing with the reflection of the mountains and this is not a 'lake'. Just a creation of my imagination).

Thank you for stopping by to visit, and hope you're all having a happy crafting day.

Mother's Day Card

I know, I am a week late with this Mother's Day card (image by Sunsational Stamps), but shouldn't Mother's Day be everyday!

This is one of Lisa's newest designs which I love, love, love.  She is so cute.  I first print n cut her out using my Silhouette Cameo and Studio DE software.  The background is considered a stencil piece from SilhouetteAmerica online store which played around with ...first cutting out as a stencil and placed on cardstock and used different types of paint and distressed ink reinkers (doesn't work too well) and than attached my Silhouette blue pen to the holder and created this background.  I cut out three lacy borders and layered on top.  The sentiment I print and cut using a label from Grumpy Granny's store.

Attached the pieces and layered it on black cardstock and than to the card base.  Colored with my copic markers which I love; and purchased three new ones just recently and used them on the shoes..

Thank you for stopping by to visit with me today, and happy crafting to all..xoxo

Another type of craft project

This is a different type of a craft project for me.  I created this picture using Abode Photoshop Elements version 12 with brushes that I downloaded from various websites.  Now I am not a pro at this and definitely not a painter.  And I used Picmonkey for my framing of the photo.

Here is more of what I have done so far:

I may play around with the one with my name - create a notepad or stationary for myself to use.

Thank you for visiting with me today, and happy crafting where you're at.

Simple Mother's Day Cards

Hi, Carolyn here with my Mother's Days cards that I created and sent to family members this year.

My TIP:  keep the card simple.

Front of Cards*

Inside of one card**

Inside of the second card***

* Front of the card:
  • This is a file I found on SilhouetteAmerica Online store that is a print n cut file; but I am going to try it with my Silhouette Pens next time.
  • Ungrouped the file (had to do several times because when I cut it out, it cut where I did not  expect it to...the new layering factor in the upgrade of Silhouette Studio DE I think).
** Inside of 2 of cards (I created 4 cards) I stamped a flower image in left corner and colored with       my  Wink of Stella by Zip Memory Systems CL Pink and CL. Dk Green

*** I used a finger dauber and purple ink and daubed spots on the white card, creating a dotted design.  Also sponged the edges of  inside card with same ink color.

Thank you for stopping by to visit with me today,   Make sure to check out our current challenge over at Scrapbook Blessings Club!  Happy crafting to you all.

A different product review....

Hey there, Carolyn here today with a product review, and I am reviewing the up-graded software, Abode Photoshop Elements ver. 12.  Now I'm not going into the technical stuff  of this program.  I am basically a beginner and learning how to create digital scrapbook pages with it.  And have been viewing online free classes (webinar) and using the techniques from the class in my pages.  I have download a bunch of scrap pages from blogs out there on the web, and trying to use the pages as my backgrounds.

TIP:  be willing to learn how to create digital scrapbook pages

I love this technique - it's called 'Picture Stack' and found under the Guided menu.  Scroll down to Photo Play and select 2nd option.  There you select number of photos which means it takes your photo and four copies (that is what I selected above) and you also can change the background color where I selected a grey color.  When you finish it will come up with 4 of the same photo; go over to the Expert section where you're able to move around to match up the pictures to your liking.

I added 2014 and than shadowed it (so easy and I will now shadow my store items easily) and my son and family moved to Texas I placed that has the title of page.  Now I will create a layout of their new home - just the outside that is.

As I do not have 12x12 printer, I will be sending this off to a website that you place orders and they send  you a 12x12 page; (I will be creating a few more pages before I submit my order.) but another TIP:  make sure that your dpi (resolution) is at 300 and saved at the highest jpeg which is maximum; this way you should get a great quality page for your scrapbook.  Or if you prefer, create pages of your digital scrapbook and order a book from other companies, i.e. MyMemories Suite.

I am having fun creating digital scrapbook pages, and thought I would never leave the standard method of sitting down with elements, pictures and the actual cardstock to create a traditional page.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Simply Homemade Saturday - Gardening

Hi, Carolyn here with a different 'project' for Saturday, Simple Homemade.  I love to plant flowers, trees, whatever to beautify the yard each year.  My TIP:  recycle old broken planters, even plastic Easter baskets!

When my sister was replanting the Christmas Cactus from this planter to another planter, I grabbed it as the center of the bottom of the planter broke from the base, and thought, "I can use this for Hens & Chicks Cactus." Went to Home Depot and located these small cactus, (they looked like the photo I saw online of Hen & Chicks cactus ) and purchase 3 small cactus and planted last evening.

I have a small order of Hen & Chicks plants coming this next week that I will place within the pot.

I hope you enjoy what I have accomplished in my little garden; and thank you for visiting with us today.  Stop on over at Scrapbook Blessings Club for more inspiration.  Blessings to all.
